The Goose

or My Most Stylish Friend

On my tens from work I will walk down 24th,
To a small craftsman.
On the porch lives a goose made of plastic,
Who is dressed up in different costumes throughout the year.

They are not the original goose,
Who used to live on a rock near the sidewalk.
That goose was brazenly kidnapped,
So now the new goose lives higher up and further back,
Behind a gate,
And monitored by a camera 24/7.

I walk down almost every day and greet them.
Today they are a lumberjack,
Last month they were a ladybug,
Before that they were Cupid.
They wear many masks but I always recognize them
And I hope that they recognize me too.
